Waiting for Godot
Sedgwick Theater
7137 Germantown Ave. Philadelphia
Two road-weary men arrive at a tree in the middle of nowhere to await the arrival of Godot. They cannot agree on when they were to meet him, or exactly where or why, but both know they cannot leave until they meet Godot. As unexpected visitors pass by, the men wonder how long they've been waiting and whether Godot will ever come. A tragicomedy in two acts, this humorous, disturbing, existential and absurdist masterpiece by Samuel Beckett is noted by the National Theatre in England as "the most significant English language play of the 20th century." This production brings together three of Philadelphia's theatrical legends: People's Light Founding Artist Ken Marini directs Johnnie Hobbs Jr. and Frank X as Vladimir and Estragon. The ensemble also includes Quintessence favorite Gregory Isaac as Pozzo, and Philebrity J Hernandez as Lucky. Lyam David-Kilker is the boy. Enjoy Waiting for Godot at Philadelphia's Sedgwick Theater.
