The Civil War: The Musical at The Eagle Theatre

The Civil War: The Musical

The Eagle Theatre
208 Vine St Hammonton

A Civil War reenactment might recreate the boom of the battle cannon, but only The Civil War: The Musical can recall the cry of the human heart. From composer Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde), The Civil War portrays America's bloodiest conflict from three different viewpoints (Union soldiers, Confederate soldiers and slaves) in a magnificent effort to bring history to gut-wrenching life. Accompanied by a score that mixes gospel, folk, country, rock and R&B, the story is based on the letters and diaries of soldiers and their families as well as the words of public figures like Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and Walt Whitman. Now The Eagle Theatre stages a vibrant new production of this Tony-nominated musical starring Broadway's Derrick Cobey (The Scottsboro Boys).
