Merlin and Wart: A New Play at Tavern on Camac Street

Merlin and Wart: A New Play

Tavern on Camac Street
243 S. Camac Street Philadelphia

Everybody knows the story of wizard Merlin and his student Wart, the orphan boy destined to pull the Sword from the Stone, etc. But Merlin and Wart: A New Play isn't about that Merlin and Wart ... or is it? Set in the late '80s, this innovative drama takes place in a local mental hospital where a sociopath named Merlin claims he is a wizard who ages backwards. Wart, his protege and fellow patient, once had a promising career as a physicist before he fired a pistol in a cinema and lost everything. To convince Wart of his powers, Merlin casts a spell to wipe all people from the planet and halt time completely. But, without food, medication or running water, how will Merlin and Wart overcome their newfound reality? Playwright Kevin Stackhouse directs his own premiere at the Tavern on Camac Street.
