Happy Days
Sedgwick Theater
7137 Germantown Ave. Philadelphia
The Fonz has nothing to do with this Happy Days -- a comic masterpiece about a woman, her husband and some garbage. A brilliant play by Samuel Beckett, the Nobel Prize-winning author of Waiting For Godot, this Happy Days blends existential tragedy with absurdist comedy to tell the story of Winnie, a woman trapped in a scorched wasteland with her detached husband. Beckett uses this intriguing set-up to continue his relentless search for the meaning of existence, probing the tenuous relationships that bind one person to another, and each to the universe, to time past and time present.
