The Media Theatre's Godspell features a live band and a new vision for the classic musical. The first major musical theater offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden) took the world by storm when it premiered. Led by the international hit "Day By Day," which hit the pop charts in the early 1970s after the show's premiere on Broadway and has been recorded by everyone from Judy Collins to dc Talk, the musical focuses on a group of people who assist Jesus as he tells the parables from the Book of Matthew using a wide variety of story techniques, and plenty of comedy. Against a final haunting backdrop of the Last Supper and the crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
