The revelation that Barbra Streisand built her own private shopping mall -- complete with a doll shop, vintage clothing atelier and candy store -- in the basement of her Malibu mansion has inspired many reactions, but none as ingenious as Buyer & Cellar. In this hilarious romp, playwright Jonathan Tolins spins a bit of Babs' trivia into a fictional one-man show of real depth and heart. Follow struggling thespian Alex as he takes a job as the sole employee of Streisand's wonder emporium. As the two develop a rapport, you wonder whether their basement bonding will ever move upstairs to real friendship.
